GPShopping is a new invention that is created to give you advertisements which are located near you. With use of the GPS system in your phone you will be tracked down and if you walk near a shop, it will automatically send some advertisementsto your mobile phone.
This invention is the latest update of wireless technology and can be very usefull. It probably gets an on and off button so people who don’t want to be disturbed by these advertisements won’t have to see them.
This invention can offer you much more. The shops are able to offer you anything if you are near the store. They can give you mobile coupons, discount, a welcome message, see videos, see your discount points and many more things. Shops also can use this GPS system to count their visitors in store and compare them with the sales. There are so many things to learn about the customers while tracking them down.
What do you guys think? We all agreed in class that we don’t want to see any more advertisements and stuff, but is this a good replacement? Is this something you would like when you walk through the shopping mall?
Hi Arnd, thanks for sharing this blog! I haven’t heard of this new invention but I think it’s great! From a customers point of view this invention can really help you further when searching for nicely discounted clothes. I think this feature needs to develop a bit more, but when you search for a particular shoe for example, then this invention shows you where in the area those shoes are cheapest. That would be great, right? From a business point of view it would be great as well. As a business you can almost literally pull your customers into the shop by sending them personal advertisements. As you said this thing can also count the customers in the shop and directly show what they buy. So I really think this is something for the future. But to be honest, I don’t think this is a replacement for shop advertisements or so, but it can be useful for customer and business!
Hello there, i find the app you wrote about very interesting.
So, let me think…
When i would walk near a shop, my intention is probably shopping. If not, i’m not interested in this app at all (i don’t like window shopping haha)..
So, if i walked near a shop looking for something nice to buy… i would rather walk into the store and see (and touch :p) the clothes, than seeing some of the clothes on my phone.
Getting a welcome message at my phone is a nice extra, but i would rather have friendly employees in the store itself (which is not always the case!).
Now, mobile coupons and discounts sounds more attractive to me.. If i was in the store and i picked something i would like to buy, i could go on this app and look for a mobile coupon.. Regarding to discounts, does the app give you extra discounts you wouldn’t get in the store? If so, a reason more to use this app! If not, all discounts given on the clothes are also shown in the stores! When i want to see my discount points, i also can go on the website en login.
I don’t know if this app is going to be a success.. who is going to take the time to check the adds first on their phones when they could just go to the store (which is nearby) and see it themselves. When you’re in the store you can see all the clothes of their collection and pick the ones you like, feel what they’re made of, see if they have your size at a glance, try the clothes on, ask for help: all things you can’t do on the app… i don’t know, maybe the phone “addicts” would love to have this app.. but it doesn’t sound as a better alternative for me and certainly not as a good replacement, in that case online shopping is a good replacement: you can buy from the store when you are not near the store 😉
A difference is that you can see videos of models wearing the clothes on the app, but everyone knows (but might not be aware of) that every piece looks different on every person (different body shapes, charisma etc.).,. Something can look so good on the model, but so bad on me..
If you are using this app.. okay.. so, you see something nice on it that you would like to buy, you see the price (eventually discounts) and maybe the sizes of it.. and then? and then you’re going still to the store to buy it.. What is the difference? You could see (or ask for) these things also in the store!
It takes more time to see all the clothes of the store on your phone than in real life, and i find shopping ‘the normal way’ time- and energy consuming enough :p
The app is to attract more customers i think… Using billboards and making the store itself more attractive will be a more effective way.
I think that this GPSsystem app is more a benefit for the stores than it is for costumers..
I found this app really interesting!! Sending advertisements and discount coupons in a real-time does grab an attention. However, I would not like it, if it pops up every time I pass that same street. Even though you can turn off the alarm, it would be very tiresome to do that every time you finish shopping. However, I also think that the part about discount coupons is the best part of this app. Since I haven’t shopped a lot in Netherlands, I don’t know a lot about shopping here. However, back in my country, Korea, if you search a store in the web, you can easily get a discount coupon just by registering. But the point is that not everyone does that, and in fact, nobody doesn’t really knows whether it exists. Customers who put effort and time in searching for that shop, gets a discount. I’ve learned this process in my Economy class, but I can’t remember the term for this. Anyways, with this app, more people would be able to acknowledge that they can get a discount just by searching or downloading an app. Also, the effort needed to get the discount would be lessened. I think this app would be very useful to the impulsive customers who are looking for discounts.
