Lacework currently is number four on Silicon Valley’s fastest-growing start-ups and the number one fastest growing start-ups in IT security. Lacework was founded in 2015 and today they have annual revenue of $138.5M. Last year, Lacework grew their employee Count by 304%. [1]

I think we can all imagine the importance and reliance of two aspects in today’s digital landscape. One, the cloud and two, security. Lacework, in 2015, was one of the first companies that combined these two things like a new service. Lacework brings automation, speed and scale to cloud security so that your security and DevOps teams can keep data and applications safe while your business continues to innovate fast on public clouds.

As competitiveness is all about innovation in many sectors today, businesses should manage their facilities appropriately to not be held back by legacy technologies that are often too rigid and expensive to keep up with. These legacy systems often limit experimentation and the agility that is needed once a successful initiative needs to be scaled. Therefore, many executives believe that cloud platforms should become the enterprise standard or at least increasingly common. It has the potential to increase flexibility, speed, agility and cost benefits. Nevertheless, security should not be sacrificed. [2] However, this is where Lacework, or other cloud security providers, must come into play.

Lacework uses the technology Polygraph which automatically tracks behaviours and activities of seven different entities: applications, workloads, containers, processes, machines, users and lastly accounts. By monitoring from all different entities Lacework can provide customers with the following services:

  1. Visibility in what to protect by multiple dashboards
  2. Detection of threats and scoundrel use of resources in the cloud
  3. Continuous validation for compliance [1]

By watching the video you get a better picture of the platform and faciliteit that they provide.

Lacework is just one of many successful tech companies. Nevertheless, I liked sharing the success of a company that tackles such an obvious problem in today’s technical landscape.
