From Idea to Presentation in Minutes: Is Creativity Changing?

I believe all of us have experienced scrolling endlessly through the PowerPoint templates searching for the right fit for our blank slides. Moreover, creating presentation slides from long reports to fit into a proposed timeframe was such a hassle. Deciding which topics are important to extract the right information and transforming the statistics into a useful illustration would take hours. However, generative AI tools come into play to help with the whole process. They can take a vague idea, a few sentences, a script, and turn it into a presentation in minutes.

That struggle became especially clear to me during an extracurricular project last year when I had to pitch a mock-up business idea. After a month of developing the concept, creating a business plan and doing market analysis, I had a full report by the end of the course. I had 2 minutes to pitch my idea, so when it was time to decide what the structure and the content of my slides should be, I got stuck.

That is when a friend introduced me to Gamma, an AI tool that creates presentations. You can insert a prompt of your idea, a full script or even full documents, and it will create a whole set of slides for you with illustrations. I then used ChatGPT to create a presentation plan that I could use along with my report to feed Gamma for the presentation.

The result honestly surprised me. The slides were well-structured, with clean visuals and clear graphs. Was it perfect? Of course not. I still made plenty of adjustments before the final version, but the process took a fraction of the time it would have taken without AI. Moreover, it does not stop at presentations; these tools can also be used for designs, prototypes, landing pages, etc.

This experience made me reflect on digital disruption and how generative AI is redefining creation. I do not believe AI should replace creativity; it should just accelerate it. By removing the barriers of time, tools, and technical knowledge, generative AI lets ideas become reality faster than ever. Maybe the future of creativity should not be about mastering the tools but about mastering ideas.

So, the question is: if an AI can turn your idea into a polished presentation or a clickable app in minutes, what does that mean for creativity? Are we entering an age where execution is instant and imagination becomes the real skill to master?

  1. Really interesting point. I like how you describe AI as a way to accelerate creativity rather than replace it. But it also makes me wonder that if everyone can turn an idea into a polished presentation in minutes, do presentations and creativity risk becoming more uniform? Maybe the real challenge now is how we guide and refine AI outputs to keep ideas original as opposed to streamlining everything towards existing concepts. Do you think we are entering a phase where imagination, not execution, becomes the true creative skill or will execution always be of value when it comes to presentations.
