Interior design has always been about culture, taste and innovation. We went from the mosaics of ancient Egypt to the smart technological homes of today. Despite this technological progress, the services of an interior designer remain a luxury for the few wealthy households. Professional consultations still cost a lot of money, leaving most households without access to the services of an interior designer (Martin, 2025).

DecoView proposes to make interior design accessible, affordable and interactive for everyone through the power of Generative AI and Augmented Reality.

The Problem

While AI has transformed various industries like marketing and healthcare, the interior design industry has been slow to adopt the technology (Skipworth et al., 2025). Only a few design firms currently make use of AI-powered tools while existing CAD (computer aided design) systems still require professional expertise and often fail to fully personalize designs for customers. Furthermore, after receiving design suggestions, customers are often left alone to find and purchase the furniture on their own, which creates inefficiencies, supply chain delays and dissatisfaction (Urban, 2024).

The Solution: DecoView

DecoView makes use of GenAI and AR, integrating it into one seamless digital platform. With the use of AR glasses, users are able to scan their living space, talk to a personal GenAI design assistant and watch real-time design suggestions appear in their own room. The user is able to define preferences, styles and budgets so that they can co-create personalized designs with GenAI. The suggested designs are complete with embedded links to purchase the recommended furniture directly through the application.

This way, there is a bridge created for the gap between design and procurement, which offers a truly immersive and user-driven experience. With a pay-per-access revenue model and with commissions from furniture sales, DecoView is able to keep costs low while ensuring there is continuous revenue growth.

The Impact

The integration of GenAI reshapes every part of the business model. In short:

  1. For operations, DecoView is able to automate the generation of designs, which will reduce time and labor costs.
  2. For customers, the experience transforms into a self-service creative journey which is available at only a fraction of traditional prices.
  3. For the market, DecoView is able to introduce scalability and inclusiveness in an industry that has long been exclusive to only wealthy households.

However, this of course comes with its own challenges like data privacy, creative authenticity and workforce adaptation to name a few. Our proposal discusses more challenges and addresses these with feasible solutions like transparent data policies, hybrid human AI validation and re-skilling programs for designers so that they can transform into “AI conductors” rather than being replaced by GenAI.

As AI continues to evolve, so will DecoView. By integrating continuous learning, sustainable technology and ethical transparency, the hopes of DecoView are not just to inspire new interiors, but also to inspire a new way of thinking about design itself.
