Social media is nowadays used for various purposes. One remarkable aspect for me is the usage of Instagram for advertisement of own companies. An attractive one is companies who use AI for job applications. There is a company called Wonsulting that I came across and have been using frequently, which could also help many other people who are applying for a job. It is often difficult to make your past experiences sound valuable for the job you are applying for when it is actually not extremely relevant. This is when a resume revision tool becomes attractive. It is used as following:

You first type in the title of your position and describe what you have done within your employment period. Once you click generate, the AI tool will give you an extensive description of what you have done with partly fictive numbers about target that you can change by yourself:

Besides changing the generated resume, you can also click to generate new ones. This will basically give you a large scale of variety if you don’t prefer to first one that is being generated. Next to this tool, there is for example also an AI networking tool:

As you can see, you can choose what your exact goal is and the tool will generate results according to this:

You can also directly go to LinkedIn to send the generated message. It is an efficient way of networking. Both the AI for resume and for networking is an effective tool. However, the questions are how this is affecting the long term of your job application process. The fact that the resume or message is attracting the attention of the company is crucial, but it probably won’t help on the long term once you are having a conversation with the company in real life.

Does ChatGPT affect critical thinking negatively?

Artificial Intelligence is a hot topic nowadays, and especially ChatGPT. The flatform answers your question in seconds and leaves you usually with the information you want to know. In education, enhancing of cognitive skills are crucial. This is among other the reason why students enroll in educational institutions (Chan, 2016). A big question I am wondering is if using ChatGPT is affecting the critical thinking skills of students negatively. I already have done research on a similar question where it was not clear if ChatGPT affected the critical thinking skills negatively, so there probably should be more variables included to test this.

The interesting part of why critical thinking skills is being affected negatively is because open-mindedness and intellectual humility is affected by critical thinking for example. It also affects problem solving, logical reasoning, identifying biases and independent judgement (Ennis, 1987). If ChatGPT is directly or indirectly affecting these skills, it needs to be considered how to cooperate with these type of AI technologies. The role of education is meant to improve these skills and if ChatGPT is being used in education (which is something that is unavoidable) it would be contradictory with the goal of education.

This means that research about this topic is crucial in this world where there is a shift towards AI. If the critical thinking skills is being influenced by ChatGPT and possibly other GAI (Generative Artificial Intelligence), certain principles of the current education system will be necessary to be changed. This is What ChatGPT says about it:

Since there is no reference for this piece of information, the question if we can rely on this information remains. It does sound logical, but how do we need to critically judge this answer of ChatGPT?
