Due to the fact I once let it slip, I like to be creative, I was tasked with creating a comprehensive marketing strategy for our company. I initially felt overwhelmed by the massive scope of the project, since I had no actual experience and also not much time to gain that experience. From developing blog content to crafting social media posts, the tasks seemed quite endless. However, by leveraging generative AI, I transformed this massive challenge into a streamlined process that saved me so many hours and helped me gain over 2K followers in merely 3 months.

First, I utilized AI to generate a content calendar filled with engaging blog topics tailored to our target audience and time of the year. Instead of spending hours watching videos and reading books about SEO and content strategy, I had the AI provide well-structured articles that were already optimized for search engines. This approach not only expedited the content creation process but also ensured high-quality output that resonated with our audience and get them engaged.

For the social media strategy, I turned to AI once again. Since I wanted to post every day, and specifically reels (short engaging video’s), because they perform well. I needed help of AI. I generated tailored post ideas and catchy captions for each platform, avoiding the overwhelming task of researching best practices across countless sources. This allowed me to focus on putting out a cohesive message while the AI optimized for engagement. AI created the posts for me which saved me many hours trying to figure out how to create viral reels.

As the content began to roll out, I established a feedback loop by actively engaging with our audience through polls and comments. This enabled me to find out how effective our messaging and content types were. Analyzing the results revealed that video content generated significantly higher engagement. In response, I leveraged generative AI to create short promotional videos. This not only boosted engagement rates but also had a significant impact on our service bookings. The appointments made by new customers almost quadrupled.

Implementing AI analytics tools allowed me to track performance metrics efficiently. By analyzing data in real-time, I could make informed adjustments without spending hours watching Google Analytics tutorials.

Ultimately, embracing generative AI not only saved me significant time but also enabled me to develop a cohesive marketing strategy that yielded impressive results. With AI’s assistance, I truly performed as if I was a marketing guru and had a significant impact on the company’s performance.

How Siemens Cranes leverages AR and VR in harbors

While global trade keeps on growing, harbors are challenged with the massive workload of loading and unloading increasingly larger ships. To meet these demands, augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies are being integrated into their operations. To maintain safety but also meet these fast growing demands, Siemens Cranes implement AR and VR, specifically to optimize efficiency and most importantly improve safety.

The traditional way of operating

Traditionally, crane operations involved manual controls and paper-based data management. With the introduction of computers and connected smart systems, ports now generate a large amounts of data. However, making this data useful in real-time used to be extremely challenging. AR tackles this by overlaying real-time operational data onto the operator’s field of view. This reduces cognitive load, allowing crane operators to make instant decisions based on live feedback, such as load distribution, equipment status, and environmental factors. This technology helps to increase precision, speed up operations, and enhance safety by providing immediate visual cues without having to shift focus (Whiteboard Session: Why Every Organization Needs an AR Strategy, 2018).

How AR and VR can be leveraged for efficiency

Siemens Cranes, for example, has developed simulation tools using AR and VR technologies to improve crane performance. Through digital twin technology (Digital Solutions for Harbor Cranes, n.d.) —a virtual replica of the crane—operators and engineers can simulate crane operations long before the physical equipment is installed. This allows them to identify potential problems, optimize workflows, and reduce commissioning time. The ability to test systems virtually also minimizes the risk of errors during live operations, making processes more efficient and reliable.

VR for training purposes

VR can also be used for training purposes in harbors. Instead of learning to operate a crane on actual cranes, with VR operators are now able to practice in an immersive virtual environments that is specifically designed to simulate real-world conditions. With the implementation of VR operators can train specific emergency scenarios, improve the response times, and enhancing overall safety without endangering personnel or equipment (COMOS Virtual Reality and Field Operator Training, n.d.).

Future impact on operations

The automation and predictive maintenance capabilities Siemens is working on further streamline harbor operations. By leveraging AR and VR Siemens Cranes aims for early detection of equipment errors, reducing downtime and maintenance costs. As port infrastructure becomes increasingly complex, these technologies are key to managing operations efficiently, ensuring that ports are ready for future growing demands.
