Reflecting on my experience with generative AI tools, I’ve found them invaluable, especially when it comes to the use of Microsoft Excel. As an Instagram creator @excelinsider which over 450k followers, I focus on sharing tips and tricks about Excel, and AI has dramatically improved both my workflow and content quality.

The NLP models of OpenAI has advanced so much that it can generate lines of code and even Excel functions and formulas. This functionality helps me reply to the queries I receive around the Excel problems my followers have. AI plays a crucial role in helping me generate complex Excel formulas and providing easy to understand solutions to my followers, which earlier would take more time in writing manually.

I’ve tried AI even with intricate scenarios, and was not disappointed with the multiple alternative methods it offers to solve problems. This has definitely expanded my knowledge curve. As a part of Microsoft Excel’s Ambassador program, I can understand the use case of AI in Excel deeply, and this would simplify our lives even more with the launch of Copilot for Excel. ’ve also experimented with multiple AI Excel plugins, which are fantastic for learning and improving Excel skills efficiently. These tools offer valuable insights into various functions, tips, and shortcuts, making the learning process faster and more engaging.

AI also helps in content creation. I often use AI to generate content ideas for new posts and content writing. Furthermore, AI assists in generating sample data, which I often in tutorials or demonstrations, making my content more practical and easy to follow. The use of AI in my content journey with AI based photo and video editing apps has been phenomenal as I can generate the thumbnails within seconds and tailor them to my needs. Also, video editing has become much faster for me especially with adding captions and auto removal of pauses.

Overall, AI has been a game-changer for me, significantly boosting my productivity and creativity. AI has allowed me to consistently deliver high-quality, educational posts to my followers while optimizing my learning and content creation process.

In the last 5 years, AI virtual assistants have made significant leaps, and will soon become indispensable in our daily lives, both in personal and professional settings. The journey of personal assistants started as early as 1960 with ELIZA, a program that mimicked conversation through pattern matching. But it was Apple’s introduction of Siri in 2011, which launched the modern era of virtual assistants. Now, voice based assistants such as Amazon’s Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri, are transforming how we interact with technology, streamlining tasks and managing our calendars.

AI is the driving force behind this evolution and the latest developments especially around natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning, have enhanced their ability to perform complex tasks and understand user needs more accurately.

Market.us predicts that by 2028, virtual professionals will make up half of the US workforce, highlighting the growing impact of AI on our lives.

In 2023, Amazon announced a major update to Alexa, incorporating Generative AI capabilities. This update allows Alexa to handle more conversational and natural dialogue, making interactions smoother and more intuitive.

Moreover, virtual assistants are entering industries with major focus on customer service. A study by the IBM Institute for Business Value shows that 55% of respondents are eager for virtual assistants to improve their shopping experiences.

However, ethical concerns surround this growth. Bias and privacy are three major concerns. There can be bias in terms of product recommendations or hiring, based on the data they are trained on and to fulfil the company’s personal agenda. Privacy is another concern as these AI virtual assistants collect vast amounts of personal data which can be used for targeted advertising and shaping our opinions.

As AI continues to evolve, so too will virtual assistants, who’s capabilities will extend beyond basic task management and personalized recommendations. They will soon become an integral part of our lives, but concerns remain, which were recently highlighted in a new Netflix release “CTRL”.
