In the digital age, the influence of AI on various creative industries, including music, has been nothing short of revolutionary. As an AI enthusiast, I’ve decided to delve into the world of AI-powered tools, in order to explore the following question: ‘can anyone become an artist in the age of AI?’ The answer, as I’ve discovered through my own experiences, is a yes.

The AI Songwriting Companion
Imagine sitting down to write your next hit song, and instead of struggling with writer’s block, you have an AI songwriting companion by your side. Tools like OpenAI’s GPT-3 and Jukedeck have made this a reality. These AI-powered platforms can assist in generating lyrics, suggesting melodies, and even have the ability to compose music tailored to your style. For instance, when I used GPT-3, it effortlessly generated lyrics that resonated with my vision for the song. I used CPT-3 to write some lyrics in the style of a certain artist. It understood the essence and incorporated some common themes found in the artist’s music, such as ambition, perseverance, and personal reflection.

Co-Production with AI
AI isn’t limited to songwriting; it extends to the production phase as well. AI-based production tools like Amper Music can assist in creating backing tracks, adding instrumentation, and refining your sound. These tools analyse your style and preferences, allowing you to co-produce music that’s uniquely yours.
I experimented with Amper Music, and it helped me craft a dynamic backing track that complemented the lyrics and melody. The result was an almost professional-quality production that I would never have been able to achieve on my own.

Voice Alteration and Vocal Enhancement
However, one of the aspects of AI in music that suprised me the most is the ability to alter or completely replace your own voice. Different tools, like Voicify.AI, offer text to speech functionalities in order to make the song sound like it was recorded by your favourite artist. I tried this, and it transformed my song to emulate a famous artist, adding a captivating dimension to the song music.

Empowering Creative Independence
AI tools for music empower independent artists like never before. They allow you to explore your creativity without the need for an entire team of writers, producers, and vocal coaches. While AI can certainly assist in various aspects of music creation, it’s essential to remember however that it should be a tool for enhancing your artistic vision, not a substitute for it.

In conclusion, the age of AI has opened up exciting possibilities for aspiring independent music artists. With AI songwriting companions, co-production tools, and voice alteration capabilities, virtually anyone can embark on a musical journey, regardless of their background or resources.

The integration of technology into education in today’s digital age is transforming the way students learn and engage with academic content (Holmes & Tuomi, 2022). One of the most noticable and influential developments in this regard is the use of AI-powered tools like ChatGPT (First, 2023). The use of ChatGPT is being seen as a threat and a way for students to cheat on assignments (Yang, 2023). However, in my opinion AI tools like ChatGPT can greatly improve the learning process. An interesting question that arises is whether ChatGPT should be allowed as a co-reader to help students improve their language use, sentence structure, and overall writing skills. Let’s delve into this topic.

The Role of Co-Readers in Academia
Co-readers, typically human tutors or peers, play a crucial role in academia, because they provide invaluable feedback for academic publications. However, access to qualified co-readers is extremely limited for students, leaving many students without this essential resource. ChatGPT would be able to fulfill this role and help students refine their writing skills, enhance language use, and develop a more polished academic style.

ChatGPT: An AI Co-Reader
In my opinion ChatGPT offers four distinct advantages as a Co-Reader. First of all ChatGPT is readily available, making it accessible to a wide range of students. Secondly, ChatGPT can provide instant feedback, allowing students to learn from their mistakes in real-time. Third, AI-based co-readers maintain a consistent level of feedback, avoiding potential variations in quality that may occur with different human co-readers. Lastly, ChatGPT can be tailored to focus on specific writing aspects, such as grammar, style, or coherence, based on individual student needs.

Ethical Considerations and conclusion

The advantages of allowing students to use ChatGPT as an co-reader are clear, however ethical considerations must also be adressed. Students should be encouraged to use the tool as a learning aid rather than a shortcut to academic success. This means plagiarism and misuse of AI-generated content should be prohibted. It’s my view however that when ChatGPT is strictly used as a way of improving academic writing, this should be allowed. After all, help is provided only on language and not on content.
